A
one-day course designed to raise awareness and performance levels
among rig crew personnel involved in the drilling of High Pressure
High Temperature (HPHT) wells.
The course introduces the unique aspects and issues surrounding
HPHT drilling, followed by a review and discussion of the roles
of Floor / Shaker / Deck Hands during drilling, tripping and well
control situations in the HPHT well.
At
the end of this course, delegates should be able to demonstrate
familiarity with and understanding of the following:

Introduction to HPHT drilling
• Basic well planning and definitions
• Mud functions and lost circulation in HPHT wells
• Role of Floor Hands / Shaker Hands in handling mud equipment
during HPHT drilling (shale shakers, de-silters, de-sanders)
• Basics and definition of well control in HPHT wells
• Role of Floor / Shaker / Deck Hands during drilling, tripping
well control situations
• Special operations in an HPHT well (casing, cementing,
etc)
• Well Control drills and training
• Evaluation for drilling and pressure control in HPHT UKOOA
guidelines
